Alcohol cholesterol does not necessarily cure these diseases because of its action to cholesterol. Alcohol only helps in increasing the levels of high density lipoprotein or the good cholesterol. It does not lower LDL and triglyceride but rather its main effect lies in increasing HDL.

Alcohol contains substances that break the platelet clumps in our blood causing heart blocks and later, heart attacks and strokes. Preventing platelets from clumping in our blood can decrease arterial blocks and reduces the risk of heart problems.

In one research done in France, it was found out that red wine can protect the heart as it contains antioxidants and flavonoids. Many French drink red wine as part of their daily diet consumption. They call it the French Paradox for red wine’s beneficial effects on the body because these people commonly drink red wine wherein they show lower mortality rates on heart disease compared to the United States.

Moderate alcohol consumers can benefit from the effects of red wine. You can try to drink a glass of it after work or drink beer while watching a game. The benefits of red wine to health is greatly manifested by drinking 1-2 cups daily for males and 1 cup daily for females.

Nonetheless, drinking excess alcohol depreciates its health benefits and brings greater health problems like arrhythmia, stroke, heart enlargement, and hypertension.

Alcohol cholesterol can bring beneficial effects to the body if consumed in moderation. On the other hand, if you are not a usual drinker and have a high cholesterol level, it is best not to just grab a bottle of beer or a cup of wine to decrease your cholesterol levels.
